The 49th annual Toronto International Film Festival will be held from September 5 to 15, 2024.[1]

Key programming announcements

The first programming announcements were released on June 18, 2024,[2] with further announcements expected in July. The full festival schedule is set to be released on August 13, 2024.[2]

Awards

The TIFF Tribute Awards recipients will include David Cronenberg as recipient of the Norman Jewison Award, and Amy Adams as a recipient of the performer award.[3] Although Cronenberg's new film The Shrouds, which premiered at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, was not one of the first six films announced on June 18, his status as a Tribute Awards recipient is indicative of its inclusion in a followup announcement, as the Tribute Awards recipients are normally selected from among people connected to films screening in the program.[4]

Cate Blanchett has been announced as the recipient of the Share Her Journey Groundbreaker Award for women who have made a positive difference in the film industry.[5] She will also be the guest at an In Conversation with... event.
